Position Summary:

The Senior Resource Center (SRC) is a non-profit organization that serves the senior citizens of Chester, Long Valley and surrounding areas. The SRC Program Director is responsible for planning, coordination, supervision and communication of programs and activities at the SRC Senior Center and within the surrounding community. The Director also provides individual support to seniors by identifying resources and linking seniors to existing services. The position reports to the President of the Senior Resource Center Board of Trustees and is part time up to 20 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, coordinates and evaluates a variety of health, wellness and educational programs for senior citizens.
  2. Schedules and publicizes SRC programs including development and distribution of flyers, emails, website updates and social media posts.
  3. Maintains positive working relationships with various community organizations and local government to maximize effectiveness of programs and SRC visibility.
  4. Acts as an advocate for senior citizens by providing information, referrals, resources and assistance on benefits and services available to them.
  5. Continually assesses senior and caregiver needs, with the goal of developing responsive programming.
  6. Provides administrative support for all Senior Center programming. 
  7. Assists in SRC fundraising events, including Festival of Trees and Wine and Dine event.
  8. Prepares monthly progress report for the SRC Board of Trustees on program operations.
  9. Participates in regular meetings of the SRC Board of Trustees.


  1.  Graduation from a four-year college with a degree in recreation, geriatrics, social work, communications or closely related field, or three years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Caring and patient personality who can work closely with senior citizens.
  4. Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, various social networking platforms, and ability to learn how to update content on WordPress website.
  5. Use of personal automobile is required.
